Eight seventh-grade students from St. Mary School in Canandaigua were inducted into the school’s Rev. Thomas P. Mull chapter of the National Junior Honor Society on May 5. Amanda Brocklebank, Julia Carey, Griffin Jones, Madisyn LaPlant, Austin Owren, Ryan Pare, Carter Sabin and Jonas Williams were inducted into the society because they met its rigorous criteria in the areas of academics, leadership, service, citizenship and character.

Sixth-grader Nicholas Caster will represent St. Francis-St. Stephen School in the upcoming Sister Mary Smith Invitational Spelling Bee, which will be held April 21 at St. Mary School in Canandaigua. Nicholas competed against 13 other fifth- and sixth-graders from the Geneva school. Fellow sixth-grader Danielle O’Brien came in second and will be the school’s alternate in the competition.
Students at St. Mary School in Canandaigua recently raised $849 for diocesan migrant ministries in Farmington and Marion. Students presented the money to Father Daniel Ruiz-Sierra, parochial vicar at St. Benedict Parish, during the school’s annual Money Jar Wars Assembly, which was held March 23.
