Several cemeteries in the Southern Tier will serve as sites for special Masses on Memorial Day, May 28.
The annual Field Mass, sponsored by Knights of Columbus Elmira Council 229, will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Elmira’s Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, at the west end of Franklin Street. Please bring your own lawn chair. In the event of rain, the event will be moved to St. Mary Church, 224 Franklin St.
There also will be two liturgies that day in Tioga County — at St. Patrick Cemetery in Owego and St. James Cemetery in Waverly. Both will begin at 10 a.m. Bring lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the Masses will be held at St. Patrick Church and St. James Church, respectively.
