Cenacle Sister Doris McCarthy, 87, died March 13, 2004, at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood, N.Y.

Sister McCarthy was a native of Victor, N.Y., graduated from East Bloomfield High School, was subsequently employed at Eastman Kodak and earned an advanced business degree from Rochester Business Institute.

In 1948, she walked into the Rochester Cenacle, accompanied by a diocesan priest, Father John Morgan, and announced her wishes to enter the congregation. She professed her final vows in 1956, and served three assignments at the local Cenacle from 1948 to 1970.

Sister McCarthy was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (John) Sullivan, Laura (John) Morrisey and Veronica (Leo) Condon. She is survived by 22 nieces and nephews and many great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the Cenacle Convent in Ronkonkoma, N.Y., on March 16, 2004, with interment in Ronkonkoma.
