CFC, Lifespan decide not to merge

Lifespan of Greater Rochester Inc. and Catholic Family Center have announced that the two organizations have stopped a merger study.
The purpose of the study was to determine the efficacy of Lifespan merging into CFC’s Elder Services Department. Lifespan’s board determined that, at this point in time, it is in the best interest of the people they serve to maintain Lifespan as a single-purpose organization, officials said.

Carolyn Portanova, president and chief executive officer of CFC, and Fran Weisberg, president and chief executive officer of Lifespan, said the agencies will continue their partnership in Eldersource, a program that provides information, guidance and care-management services for older adults and their caregivers.

Lifespan provides services for older adults. CFC operates under the auspices of diocesan Catholic Charities and provides human services to all age groups through 60 programs in Monroe and Wayne counties.
