CFC president given 2005 Athena Award

Carolyn Portanova, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Family Center in Rochester since 1989, has been chosen as the 2005 Athena Award winner by the Women’s Council of the Rochester Business Alliance.

The Athena Award recognizes a local woman who best reflects the values of business achievement, community service and support of professional women’s advancement.

Portanova was one of 26 women nominated for the 19th annual award. She was nominated by Martin Mucci, senior vice president of operations at Paychex Inc., and a longtime supporter of Catholic Family Center, which is an agency of the Diocese of Rochester’s Catholic Charities.
