Patricia Cassidy of Gates, a volunteer with Catholic Family Center and a human resources director of a local firm, was named one of five finalists in the Catholic Charities USA 2012 National Volunteer of the Year award.
Cassidy created the E-PREP program, an employment preparation program that helps refugees who do not speak English transition into American workplaces.
She teaches refugees about American workplace culture, etiquette, and the job-interviewing process. Nearly 300 refugees use E-PREP each year.
She also has created an employment-preparation program for women in recovery who are working with Healthy Sisters’ Soup and Bean Works. Cassidy assists participants with resume and cover letter writing, job interviews, applications and online job searches.Tags: Catholic Charities, Faith in Action
