Chili church offers May 20 forum on opioid crisis

A panel presentation, “The Opioid Crisis in Our Community: The Facts You Need to Know and How it Affects You,” is set for Monday, May 20. It will take place beginning at 7 p.m. St. Christopher Church, 3350 Union St., North Chili.

Scheduled presenters include James Van Brederode, chief of police for the Town of Gates; David Attridge, founder and executive director of Recovery Now NY;

David Dunning, supervisor for the Town of Chili; James Wesley, retired forensic chemist supervisor for the Monroe County Crime Lab; Mark Assini, former supervisor for the Town of Gates; and Cathy Saresky, a substance-abuse expert from Rochester’s Catholic Family Center. In addition, a presenter from Trillium Health will speak on Narcan and offer free training.

This program will includes true-life stories and a graphic video, and is not suitable for family members under age 12. There is no charge for the event; however, a free-will offering will support Gates to Recovery, a local addiction and recovery support resource.
