Christ the King School in Irondequoit has joined the ranks of local Catholic schools that are accredited by the Middle States Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools. The school was one of about 200 schools in the Northeast to earn accreditation in October from the elementary and secondary schools commissions.
Christ the King’s accreditation process took about two years and was governed by a steering committee chaired by Sister of St. Joseph Kay Lurz, principal.
According to school officials, the accreditation signifies that the school has met Middle States’ quality standards, has taken part in rigorous study, has hosted an evaluation by independent educators and has created a strategic plan to continue school improvement.
