Claim form, deadline set in Rochester Diocese’s bankruptcy

Proof of claim forms — a general form and another for claims of sexual abuse — are now available for anyone seeking to file a complaint against the Diocese of Rochester in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

To obtain a form, visit https://case.stretto.com/rochesterdiocese. Assistance with the process of filing a claim is available by calling 855-347-3773. Anyone wishing to make a claim is required to complete and submit one of the two forms by Aug. 13, 2020.

According to an order issued by Feb. 25 by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Paul R. Warren, notices publicizing the forms’ availability and filing deadline are to be made available in upcoming months in local, regional and national print and electronic media as well as on social media; one such ad appears on page 3 of this edition of the Catholic Courier.

In compliance with Warren’s order, the diocese also is sending requests for prominent posting of the notice in the offices of the state attorney general and of the district attorney, sheriff, county officials, public-health agencies and hospitals in all 12 diocesan counties, a diocesan spokesman said.
