Cleveland to host international convocation

More than 600 parish and diocesan leaders from the United States and Canada are expected to attend the Fifth International Convocation of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate, which will take place Nov. 6-8 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio.

The convocation’s theme is “Handing on What We Have Received From the Lord,” and convocation participants will receive practical suggestions for the formation of newcomers to the Catholic way of life. The convocation will feature presentations by Richard Gaillardetz, professor of Catholic studies at the University of Toledo, Ohio, and a well-known speaker in the Diocese of Rochester. Other presenters are Mary Birmingham, author of two books on liturgical catechesis; Bishop Gerald Wiesner, OMI, of Prince George, British Columbia; and Kathleen Dorsey Bellow, principal of Sacred Heart/Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic School in Lake Charles, La., and a faculty member at the Institute for Black Catholic Studies of Xavier University in Louisiana.

The convocation also will feature more than 48 break-out sessions and workshops for participants to attend.

The registration fee is $298 per person and does not include hotel costs.
