For the seventh consecutive year, the Catholic Ministries Appeal has topped the $5 million mark.
According to David Kelly, campaign coordinator, as of Jan. 8 the appeal had received commitments totaling approximately $5.15 million on the strength of nearly 28,000 commitments — almost 90 percent of its set goal of $5.875 million. The 2013-14 CMA, which runs through May 31, was running approximately $100,000 ahead of last year’s campaign that reached a record total of $5.4 million.
This year’s CMA theme is "We Are God’s Helping Hands." Contributions go toward supporting parishes throughout the 12-county Diocese of Rochester, funding ministries in such areas as youth and young adults, families, faith education, the poor, the elderly, people in prison and those who are hospitalized. A CMA informational video is available here. Those wishing to contribute may visit the diocesan website, or call the diocesan Office of Stewardship and Communications at 585-328-3228, ext. 1297.
