CMA sets new record; runs until May 31

Having already broken its single-year record, the 2015-16 Catholic Ministries Appeal enters its final few weeks on a highly successful note.

According to David Kelly, campaign manager, CMA commitments had totaled $5.9 million as of May 2, surpassing last year’s record total of $5.67 million. The current campaign has raised more than 95 percent of its $6.175 million goal and is running approximately $300,000 ahead of last year’s pace at this point.

CMA proceeds support more than half of the diocesan budget by funding a number of programs, services and ministries. Kelly noted that nearly 27,800 donors have participated in 2015-16, helping make this the eighth consecutive year the CMA has surpassed $5 million. He added that more than 45 parishes have reached their assigned goals, with another 15 parishes raising at least 90 percent of their goals.

"We are grateful for the generosity of thousands of families across the diocese," Kelly said. "Collectively, contributions to the Catholic Ministries Appeal serve to strengthen our local church by helping those in need of spiritual and economic assistance."

With the campaign running until May 31, there is still time for those who have not yet made a CMA donation. An informational video is available at Secure online pledges may be made at Donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact Kelly at 585-328-3210, ext. 1326, or
