The Catholic Ministries Appeal is on track for setting another all-time high, and opportunities remain for diocesan Catholics to help in reaching that goal.
According to David Kelly, CMA campaign manager, the 36th-annual appeal had garnered commitments totaling $5,687,717 as of Jan. 17. That represents 89.57 percent of the targeted amount of $6.35 million.
Pledge totals thus far in the 2016-17 campaign are slightly ahead of last year’s pace at the same point. The 2015-16 CMA ended up with $6.035 million — the first time that campaign donations have topped the $6 million mark in a given year.
“The generosity and commitment to the Catholic Ministries Appeal of so many families across our diocese never ceases to amaze me,” Kelly remarked. “Because of thousands of generous donations, we are on pace to beat last year’s record total. We are extremely grateful to all those who have contributed to this year’s appeal.”
With a theme of “Raised in Christ,” the current campaign began this past fall and will run through May 31. Contributions may be made by mail using parish-provided envelopes, or online at www.dor.org/index.cfm/stewardship/give-online. Checks (made payable to the Catholic Ministries Appeal), credit cards, electronic-fund transfers and appreciated securities are all accepted. Donations are tax deductible. For further information, contact Kelly at 585-328-3210, ext. 1326, or dkelly@dor.org.
Proceeds will go toward fully or partially supporting programs, services and ministries around the 12-county Diocese of Rochester. CMA proceeds provide funding for more than half of the diocesan budget. An informational video may be viewed at www.dor.org/index.cfm/stewardship/annual-appeal.
