To the editor:
For those who believe global warming is man-made, consider the following:
Last August, S. Fred Singer, Professor Emeritus of Environmental Studies, University of Virginia, wrote the article, “Global warming: man-made or natural?” In his article, he believed that “Human activities are not influencing the global climate in a perceptible way.” Further, he stated “it is a well known fact that CO2 is plant food and essential to the growth of crops and trees” “and ultimately to the well being of animals and humans.”
Professor Singer also co-authored the book “Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years” with research fellow, Dennis Avery. The evidence they present demonstrates that human generated CO2 has played only a minor role.
In 1998, 13,000 scientists signed a petition that urged the government to reject the Kyoto Treaty. Since that time, has the lure of government grant money played a role in honest scientific research?
