Deacon Kevin Carges has been appointed to the Catholic Relief Services ministry of the Diocese of Rochester.
He will be responsible for outreach to parish communities to deepen awareness about the work of CRS in 100 countries around the world, sharing information on CRS resources and programs available to parishes and schools.
Deacon Carges will split his new ministry with ongoing pastoral duties at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Geneva. He will work with Kathy Dubel, diocesan CRS coordinator who also is justice-and-peace director for Catholic Charities of Chemung/Schuyler.
Deacon Carges is a CRS Global Fellow. Through this initiative, deacons and priests witness firsthand CRS’ works with the poor and vulnerable in other parts of the world. They then share that information with parishes and schools upon their return. According to Dubel, other CRS Global Fellows in this diocese are Deacons John McDermott and Mark Robbins.
