Deacon information day is set for Nov. 19

Men interested in learning about becoming permanent deacons are invited to attend an informational session on Saturday, Nov. 19, in Rogers Hall at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 115 E. High St., Painted Post. The session will last from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Serving as hosts will be Deacon George Welch and his wife, Paula. Deacon Welch serves as parish deacon at Ss. Peter and Paul, Elmira, and is also a chaplain at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Also on hand Nov. 19 will be Deacon Ray Defendorf, pastoral administrator at St. Mary’s Parish, Bath; and Joe Erway, a diaconal candidate from St. Mary Southside Parish, Elmira.
