Men interested in becoming permanent deacons are invited to an information session at 7 p.m. April 8 at Church of the Assumption, 20 East Ave., Fairport. The session will provide an overview of the five-year application and formation process, the time commitment and will answer questions about ongoing ministry.
Applicants should be men of strong and active faith who are at least 35 and no more than 62 at the time of ordination. Men should be in good health, emotionally mature, and stable in professional and personal relationships. Men may be single or married; wives also are encouraged to attend the information session.
