Dimitri House, 102 N. Union St., Rochester, which serves the poor and homeless, will present its 19th-annual Hike for the Homeless on Saturday, June 17.
Walkers, who obtain sponsors to donate funds to the shelter, can choose between a one-mile and three-mile route. They will register at St. Mary Church, 15 St. Mary’s Place downtown, beginning at 9 a.m. The walk commences at 10 a.m., and will end with a picnic at St. Mary’s.
During the winter, Dimitri House provides emergency shelter to homeless men. It also dispenses groceries to several hundred low-income families throughout the year; operates a weekday drop-in center; and provides a variety of other social services. The house was originally founded as a ministry of Corpus Christi Parish, but incorporated independently in 2000.
