Fidelis Care, the New York state bishops’ health plan, recently announced the distribution of $169,000 from its Community Grant Fund to nonprofit organizations in the Diocese of Rochester.
The diocese’s Parish and Clergy Services received $84,500 to support pastoral services and intercultural programs for the migrant worker community in the diocese. Diocesan Catholic Charities received $13,000 for its Consistent Life Ethic Grant Fund, which helps community organizations improve the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.
Other grant recipients within the Diocese of Rochester included:
* Catholic Charities of Wayne County, $20,000 to support La Casa, a migrant-housing center.
* Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, $15,000 to support the Geneva Community Lunch Program.
* Catholic Charities of Livingston County,$15,000 for its Faith in Action Program, which helps the elderly and disabled to continue to live at home.
* Catholic Charities of Steuben, $11,500 for Turning Point Financial/Housing Stability Support, which helps individuals and families maintain financial and housing stability.
* Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga, $10,000 to assist individuals in emergency situations.
