Deborah A. Housel, pastoral administrator at St. Michael’s Parish in Lyons, was recently appointed to succeed Casey Lopata as planning-group liaison in the Diocese of Rochester’s Office of Pastoral Planning. Lopata will retire July 9, and Housel begins July 12.
As part of the pastoral-planning process, diocesan parishes and faith communities are divided into 36 planning groups. Housel will serve as an advocate for half of them.
Housel has a master’s degree, a graduate certificate in youth ministry and a religious-education coordinator certificate from St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry. She has also completed one year toward the marriage and family therapy master’s program at the University of Rochester.
Those who have worked with Lopata are invited to attend a reception for him July 8 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the diocesan Pastoral Center, 1150 Buffalo Road in Gates.
