In light of the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, the Diocese of Rochester would like to begin a local discussion group with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
According to information from the diocese, discussion would center around the many points of agreement between the two faith communities, such as social justice, ministry, Bible study and areas of worship.
The discussions would culminate in October 2017 with a joint worship service to commemorate the many years of dialogue between Catholics and Lutherans. The two faith communities have been engaged in dialogue about areas of agreement and unity since 1965.
Those interested in taking part in Catholic-Lutheran discussions should contact Betsy McDermott at 585-328-3228, ext. 1287, or bmcdermott@dor.org.
