Bishop Salvatore R. Matano has appointed James Tauzel as superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Rochester, the diocese announced Feb. 12.
Tauzel has been serving as interim superintendent since September 2019 when former superintendent Anthony S. Cook III left for a position at Aquinas Institute of Rochester.
Tauzel had previously served as coordinator of curriculum and instruction for the Diocese of Rochester. He also has served as principal of All Saints Academy in Corning and St. Joseph School in Auburn.
He earned a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Texas-Pan American and a bachelor’s of science degree from Cornell University.
