Pet blessings were offered at a number of diocesan parishes to honor the Oct. 4 feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. The Catholic Courier visited St. Mary Church in Canandaigua and St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mendon Oct. 4, where outdoor pet blessings took place.
