There are several other forms of marriage preparation available within the Diocese of Rochester.
Engaged Catholic couples wishing to marry within the diocese must take the Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding and Study marriage-preparation inventory, or FOCCUS inventory. Prospective brides and grooms complete the inventory separately, and their answers to the instrument’s more than 100 questions help the couple identify strengths in their relationship as well as potential problem areas.
The diocese also offers a dozen or so pre-Cana sessions each year, which are daylong sessions held at parishes throughout the diocese. The diocese also offers an online pre-Cana program for couples who are unable to attend any of the local sessions. There also is a special pre-Cana program for couples in which one or both partners is entering into a second marriage. Through this program, such engaged couples meet with trained mentor couples who are themselves in second marriages.
For more information about any of these programs, contact your parish, or contact the diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis at 585-328-3210, ext. 1295, or www.dor.org.
