The Diocese of Rochester is planning an October Mass in honor of Project Rachel’s 20 years of ministry in the diocese. Bishop Salvatore R. Matano will celebrate the Mass, which will be held Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park in Rochester.
During the Mass Bishop Matano will bless and commission all who are involved in Project Rachel, which is a ministry through which trained volunteers help women and men affected by abortion to find healing. Immediately after the Mass there will be a reception in appreciation of Father James Hewes, who served as diocesan director of Project Rachel from its founding in the diocese in 1996 until 2015.
