Donations for Nicaragua projected needed

St. Francis and St. Clare Parish in Waterloo and Seneca Falls is asking for people to donate items to its Nicaragua Project. The parish has assisted needy people in Nicaragua through this project for more than 20 years.

The project’s organizers are seeking donations of clothing, footwear, household items, sewing supplies, toys, school supplies, personal-care items, medical supplies and religious articles without English words written on them. This year they’re looking specifically for toaster ovens, crock pots, small lamps, curling irons and hair dryers as well. Due to high shipping costs, such luxury items as wicker baskets, picture frames, flower pots, upholstered furniture, televisions, computers, stereos, vacuum cleaners and typewriters will not be accepted.

Donated items may be dropped off at the rectory garage at St. Patrick Church, located at 97 W. Bayard St. in Seneca Falls. Donated items also may be left in the green shed next to Finger Lakes Collision on Routes 5 and 20 in Seneca Falls. For more information, contact St. Francis and St. Clare Parish at 315-539-2944.
