Donations of items needed by agencies

Donations of various items are being requested by two agencies of Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga.

The Catholic Charities Outreach Center in Waverly is conducting a back-to-school supply drive. The request list includes such supplies as pencils, notebooks, lined paper, folders, book bags and rulers. Donations may be dropped off at the outreach center, 505 Clark St., in the former St. James School. Call 607/565-7580 for details.

In Ithaca, the Samaritan Center needs an array of items: clean, gently used clothing and bedding; dishes and cookware; and small appliances such as microwave ovens and toasters. The agency noted that August and September is a busy time, with up to 500 families served during those months in the past. The Samaritan Center is located at 324 W. Buffalo St., and donations are accepted Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 607/272-5062 for more details.
