Elmira church will hold 40-hour devotion May 31-June 2

All are invited to attend a 40-hour devotion May 31-June 2 at St. Casimir Church, 1000 Davis St., Elmira.

The event will begin on Thursday, May 31 with a Mass, Eucharistic procession and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 5:30 p.m. St. Casimir Church will then be open continuously for private adoration until Saturday, June 2 at 9:30 a.m., when the devotion will conclude with a Mass and Eucharistic procession.

Parishioners, as well as visitors, are invited to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Organizers are seeking people to fill time slots so the exposed Blessed Sacrament is never left unattended. Contact the parish at 607-733-0300.

The 40-hour devotion is being held to observe the closing of the Year of the Eucharist in the Diocese of Rochester, as well as the Feast of Corpus Christi. In addition, it will serve as a prayerful lead-in to the founding of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish which, beginning July 1, will formally unite all six of the Catholic churches in Elmira.
