A free Thanksgiving dinner sponsored by Elmira Community Kitchen will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.
The kitchen is located 160 High St., in the Ss. Peter and Paul community center. It has served Thanksgiving dinner annually since 1981. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the holiday meal. To volunteer or donate needed food items, call 607-734-9784, ext. 2135, by Nov. 15.
In addition, cash donations are welcomed to help keep the kitchen operating during 2014. Checks can be made payable to Elmira Community Kitchen and mailed to 215 E. Church St., Elmira, NY 14901. Meals are served there daily Monday through Friday, and the last Saturday of each month, year-round. Special meals also are offered on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. More than 100 volunteers from local faith communities, businesses, civic organizations and schools assist each month at the kitchen.
