Father Damian Milliken, an Elmira native who has served as a Benedictine missionary in Tanzania since 1960, has released a book, African Pilgrimage: Reports & Reflections from Tanzania, 1960-1988.
The book details Father Milliken’s many experiences in East Africa, where he has tirelessly sought to provide education and the Catholic faith for people who have little else. African Pilgrimage includes dozens of edited verbatim excerpts from letters Father Milliken wrote as he moved from one assignment to another over a period of nearly 30 years.
