Jan and Clare van den Blink, along with Michael Johnston Sr., were recently presented with McAuley Awards by Elmira Notre Dame High School.
The awards were presented by Bishop Salvatore R. Matano during the 16th-annual McAuley Award Dinner that took place Oct. 19 at Elmira Country Club. The banquet featured in-person attendance as well as virtual participation following an all-virtual format for last year’s event.
Those who earn McAuley Awards are recognized not only for their dedication to Elmira Notre Dame, but also for significant contributions they’ve made to their local communities in following the ideals of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy religious order that is synonymous with the high school.
Elmira Notre Dame, a coeducational institution, was founded in 1955 and currently serves students in grades 7 through 12. It is the only Catholic high school in the Rochester Diocese that is located outside of Monroe County.Tags: Catholic Schools, Chemung County News
