The public is invited to two upcoming musical programs at Elmira Notre Dame High School.
Our country’s military will be honored on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. with a “Salute to the Armed Forces” in the Notre Dame auditorium, 1400 Maple Ave. The event will include a color guard, representatives from each department of the military, flags, anthems, performances by the Notre Dame jazz and concert bands, soloists, and sing-a-longs.
There is no admission cost. Flags will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Call Notre Dame at 607/734-2267 to submit the names of veterans and current members of the military so they may be recognized in the event program and with reserved seats.
Sony Classical recording artist violinist Eileen Ivers and her band, Immigrant Soul, will visit the auditorium on Friday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. Ivers is the musical star of “Riverdance” and has been credited on more than 80 traditional and contemporary albums. She has also scored numerous major motion pictures, including “Gangs of New York” in 2002.
Tickets may be purchased by visiting www.notredamehighschool.com or calling the school.
