“Embracing God in Life Today,” a retreat designed to bring community members together to pray, listen, reflect and share, will be held in several Elmira parishes during the week of May 21. All sessions are free and open to the public, and, unless otherwise noted, they will be offered at noon with participants bringing a brown-bag lunch and again at 6 p.m. with supper and child care provided.
The sessions include:
* Monday, May 21: “Embracing God during Times of Change,” McCabe Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 W. First St.
* Tuesday, May 22: “Embracing God in Family and Everyday Life,” Ss. Peter and Paul Church’s parish center, 161 High St.
* Wednesday, May 23: “Embracing God in Community,” Our Lady of Lourdes.
* Thursday, May 24: A healing of memories and anointing of the sick, St. Patrick Church, corner of Clinton Street and Park Place, 7 p.m.
The retreat facilitator will be Sister Mary Louise Heffernan, SSJ. Sister Heffernan has a private practice in spiritual direction and also is a spirituality consultant for the Diocese of Rochester.
