National Clergy Appreciation Month was celebrated in style at Elmira’s Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus.
From Oct. 1 to Oct. 27, the Parish Life Committee erected large white posters in all six church buildings so parishioners could write notes of thanks, encouragement and greeting for their priests and deacons. The posters were presented to the clergy Oct. 28.
In addition, on National Clergy Appreciation Day Oct. 13, a reception took place at St. Mary Southside, with more than 100 people in attendance to greet Most Holy Name of Jesus’ clergy.
Anne Bremer, the parish’s volunteer coordinator, noted that plans are in place for clergy appreciation events next October as well, based on the success of the recent initiative.
