To the editor:
Parishes throughout our Catholic diocese are preparing for Easter Sunday in various ways this season. At Mother of Sorrows, our Liturgy Committee put together a program that I’m proud to be part; and concentrated on various subjects for each week in Lent.
1: Desire. We got in touch with our deepest desires; and what we could change in our lives.
2: Transfiguration. We placed ourselves in the presence of something beautiful, to help calm us and nurture our inner person, the one we long to be.
3: Vigilance. To discard possessions that are not useful, as too many of them prevent us from noticing God’s presence.
4. Responsibility. To stop looking to others "to make it right" and take up the task ourselves, which is called adulthood.
5. Gratitude. To compliment someone each day and write at least one note of appreciation. Finally for Holy Week, is Community: We come together to remember the last supper, the cross, the promise of a new life.
We worship on the holy days of the week so that we can enter into the joy of Easter morning, rising up with our risen Christ. Alleluia! Alleluia!
