Events are scheduled for youths in diocese

Several events for diocesan youths are being offered by the Diocese of Rochester in the upcoming months:

* Junior High Youth Rally will take place Sunday, April 29, from 1 to 7 p.m. at New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls. The day will include keynote presentations, a “Holy Hullabaloo!” series of fun activities, dinner and Mass.

* Run for the Young will be held Saturday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. The 11th-annual race will begin and end at St. Lawrence School in Greece. Funds raised will benefit the Diocesan Youth Scholarship Fund. Run for the Young is a 5K (3.1.-mile) road race and 1-mile fun run/walk. More than 80 age-group awards will be presented as well as door prizes and prize money.

* The third-annual “Senior Scene” is scheduled for Friday, May 18, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. This event allows high-school seniors to discern their future as they witness presentations by Bishop Matthew H. Clark, national Catholic recording artist Steve Angrisano and Father Patrick Van Durme, who will serve as host.

* The National Catholic Youth Conference will take place Nov. 8-10 in Columbus, Ohio. This year’s theme is “Discover the Way/Descrube el Camino.” The Rochester Diocese traditionally sends several hundred high-schoolers to the conference, which is held every two years. More than 20,000 teens from across the country are expected to participate.
