Events mark Year of Mercy’s conclusion

The Diocese of Rochester will formally close the Holy Door at Sacred Heart Cathedral and conclude the Year of Mercy with a 5 p.m. Mass on Nov. 20, the feast of Christ the King, according to diocesan officials.

During the Year of Mercy, which officially began on the feast of the Annunciation last Dec. 8, the cathedral was the site of many events, including a first Friday Mass each month.

Prior to the closing of the cathedral’s Holy Door, St. Louis Church in Pittsford will offer "An Evening of Reflection on the Extraordinary Year of Mercy" at 7 p.m. Nov. 15. Catholic radio hosts Father Jacek Mazur and Rick Paolini will lead the discussion.
