To the editor,
In the pamphlet, “The DaVinci Code, Catholic Response,” published by Our Sunday Visitor,I was pleased to read the arguments used to defend the church’s position on what is true and what is untrue about the historic period when Christ was with us.
Dan Brown has cleverly used his fictional account of Christ’s time on this earth to weave a web of suspicion and doubt as to what really happened! This strategy sells books! True believers will not be influenced. However, I believe people with only a casual religious belief will be influenced.
The good news is that there is a renewed interest in knowing what really happened during the formative years of Christianity.
In my opinion, this is long overdue, and, I believe, in the end, this will be a good thing for the Catholic Church.
