Dr. Janet E. Smith, a consultor on the Pontifical Council on the Family, will present “The Sexual Mess We Are In and How We Got There” at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Rhinecliff and Imperial drives, Brighton, on Tuesday, June 22, at 7 p.m.
Currently Chair of Life Issues at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, Smith is author of Humanae Vitae: A Generation Later; editor of Why Humanae Vitae Was Right: A Reader; and has penned numerous articles on ethical and bioethics issues. More than 700,000 copies of her audiotape, “Contraception, Why Not,” have been distributed.
Smith taught for nine years at the University of Notre Dame and 12 years at the University of Dallas. She has spoken nationally and internationally about such issues as the Catholic Church’s teachings on sexuality, and will appear frequently on the EWTN cable channel in July, August and September and in January 2005.
