To the editor:
Many of us have read about Pope Francis and his many positive actions and comments since his inauguration. He is so well deserving of those comments and actions.
However, like so many instances involving our leaders, both political and religious, the "damning comments" are not often heard.
I cannot understand why so little action has been taken against so many pedophile clergy, both parish priests and their superiors.
Why were our religious leaders not treated in a similar way as the leaders at Penn State were treated when the Sandusky scam evolved?
Anyway, to make a long story short, I cannot understand how Pope John Paul can be venerated as a step to sainthood and approved for sainthood by Pope Francis without having performed a miracle. I know it was waived by the Pope. In addition, how can Pope John (Paul) go on to sainthood as a person who purportedly sheltered pedophile priests?
Enough is enough. Both civil and religious leaders should take their responsibilities to heart and quit playing politics.
