Fairport parish collects coats, hats, gloves, mittens for needy children in inner-city parish

The Knights of Columbus’ Father Michael C. Hogan Council, based at St. John of Rochester Parish in Fairport, is seeking donations of coats, hats, gloves and mittens for its annual Coats for Kids program.

The donated items will be distributed to people in need at St. John’s sister parish, Holy Apostles in Rochester. Over the past four years, more than 800 coats have been collected and distributed through the Coats for Kids drive.

The coats, hats, gloves and mittens should be either new or slightly used and should be in good condition, washed or cleaned and ready to wear. They should be in sizes appropriate for children ranging in age from infants to high-school students.

The collection will take place before all of St. John’s Masses the weekend of Dec. 7-8. Donated items should be brought to the Ministry Building Library.

For more information, contact the parish at 585-248-5993.
