Renowned organist and composer Steven Tharp will perform works by J.S. Bach, Franck, Baker, Falcinellis, Vierne and Reger at 8 p.m. Feb. 8 at Sacred Heart Cathedral as part of the Eastman School of Music’s Rochester Celebrity Organ Series. Tickets are $10 ($5 students) and will be sold at the door or through the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra box office.
Among his accolades, Tharp was the official organist during Pope Benedict XVI’s 2008 New York visit. Tharp is artist-in-residence at Grace (Episcopal) Church in New York City, and also in New York, he served as the organist at St. Patrick’s Cathedral from 1995-97 and associate organist at St. Bartholomew’s from 1998-2002.
