Favorite ways to celebrate a multimedia Advent

I may be a bit biased, but the 2017 Catholic Courier Advent calendar is definitely my favorite multimedia way to help me celebrate the sesaon and prepare for Christmas. However, that hasn’t stopped me from checking out some of the other Advent multimedia options out there. Here are my Top 5 favorites, in no particular order:

1. Xt3 Advent Calendar 2017

Xt3 Advent Calendar was designed and developed by the Archdiocese of Sydney, Australia. Each day, you are able to view the Gospel readings for that day as well as view a multimedia featured item. The calendar can be viewed online at xt3.com/advent or downloaded for free at the App Store on iOS devices or the Google Play Store on Android devices. The calendar runs through Jan. 7.

2. MyAdvent

Want to make your own personalized Advent calendar? You can with MyAdvent app. You can put in photos and YouTube videos, as well as upload a custom background and choose your own colors. The calendar can be shared with family and friends. MyAdvent calendar can be created online at www.myadvent.net or you can download the app for free at the App store on iOS devices or the Google Play Store on Android devices.

3. Magnificat Advent Companion 2017

Looking to pray more this Advent? The daily Mass companion Magnificat has an Advent Companion that can be downloaded on a smartphone or tablet. The companion features a page-a-day format with original meditations on the daily Gospel reading. Some features include an Advent penance service, Advent Stations and a variety of blessings. The companion can be ordered in both regular ($3.95 per copy) and large ($5.95 per copy) print editions. For a small charge, there also is an electronic version for Kobo, Nook and iOS devices.
