Fidelis Care expands into Livingston County

Fidelis Care, the health-insurance plan provider founded by New York state’s Catholic bishops, has received state and county approval to connect Livingston County’s uninsured residents with New York’s free or low-cost Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care insurance programs.

"It is our goal to make a difference in people’s lives and to provide them with convenient access to the quality care and services they need and deserve," Mark L. Lane, Fidelis Care’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

According to the state Department of Health, more than 6,000 Livingston County residents are uninsured, including 1,000 children younger than 19. Fidelis Care covers checkups, preventive care, well-child visits, immunizations, lab tests, x-rays, hospitalization, emergency treatment and more. Members receive care from their own primary-care doctors and have access to a statewide provider network of more than 37,000 doctors and hospitals. In Livingston County, providers include Tri-County Family Medicine program and the Livingston Healthcare System, which comprises Noyes Hospital in Dansville and Livingston Health Services in Geneseo.

"In Fidelis Care, the Diocese of Rochester is fortunate to have a partner that provides outstanding customer service and respects the dignity of every individual," said Joe DiMino, executive director of Catholic Charities of Livingston County, which will partner with Fidelis to help CCLC clients get health insurance. "We are delighted that Fidelis Care will now expand their services to Livingston County."

Fidelis expanded into the Diocese of Rochester in 2007, beginning with Monroe County, where it has a satellite office in Perinton. It also operates in Wayne, Cayuga and Tompkins counties and a total of 50 of New York’s 62 counties.
