Fidelis Care, the health-insurance plan provider founded by New York state’s Catholic bishops, recently received approval to offer the state-sponsored Child Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care insurance programs in Seneca and Yates counties.
This approval from the New York State Department of Health means Fidelis Care now can offer Seneca and Yates county residents access to its low-cost health insurance coverage. There is a need for such coverage in those counties, because more than 8,500 people in those two counties are uninsured, according to census data from 2010 and 2012. Fidelis Care, which has more than 1 million members across the state, also has a provider network of more than 62,000 primary care physicians and specialists, including the doctors and services offered by Finger Lakes Health.
"We are committed to making a difference in people’s lives. Our mission is to provide anyone in need with access to quality, affordable health insurance and to treat every member with dignity and respect," said Father Patrick J. Frawley, president and CEO of Fidelis Care. "We are here to stay and plan to be a true partner in community health care."
