An Aug. 15 Mass celebrated by Bishop Salvatore R. Matano and a display of hundreds of flowers marked the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the 155th anniversary of the founding of Auburn’s St. Mary Church. “Mary’s Flower Garden” was on display at the church Aug. 12-20 and paid special tribute to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the patroness of the parish. The display recalls the medieval “Mary Garden” in which a special flower represented a virtue or attribute of Mary.
