Food Bank of the Southern Tier, an agency of Catholic Charities, recently received a $5,000 grant from MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger.
According to Paul Hesler, executive director of the food bank, this is the fifth grant received from MAZON, a philanthropic organization that supports nonprofit organizations devoted to reducing hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
“MAZON has faithfully supported our work over the past several years, and we simply could not do what we are doing without their support,” Hesler stated.
Food Bank of the Southern Tier is located in Big Flats. It serves food and food-related products to more than 200 organizations in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins and Broome counties. According to food-bank officials, the agency provided more than 6 million pounds of food for more than 130,000 households last year.
