Food items to aid poor in Nicaragua

Ss. Peter and Paul Parish is having a special collection of food for its mission in Nicaragua at Masses the weekend of July 30-31.

Requested items include dry or canned beans; rice; canned meat and tuna; tea bags; dry milk; canned tomatoes; canned soups (no cream soup); canned vegetables; and instant coffee.

Items can be left on the church’s back tables. They will be packed in a truck by mid-August for eventual delivery to Nicaragua. The Nicaraguan Mission, which aids the poor in that Central American country, has been supported by Catholics in eastern Elmira for nearly 20 years.
