Former Diocese of Rochester school in Brighton gets new use

To ensure the safety of its students, Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women will lease the former Siena Catholic Academy building for the 2020-21 school year, according to Aug. 21 information from Mercy.

Larger classrooms at the new site, which will be known as Mercy East, will allow middle-school students (grades 6, 7 and 8) to safely attend in-person instruction five days a week, according to information from the school. The main campus has been renamed Mercy Blossom for the time being. The decision to expand will have little impact on student transportation, school officials noted, since the campuses are located just two miles apart in Brighton.

According to Mercy, middle-school families are excited about the expansion, with parents most excited about a five-day school week schedule.
