In the presence of friends and family as well as clergy from all over the Diocese of Rochester, Bishop Matthew H. Clark ordained four men to the permanent diaconate June 4 at Rochester’s Sacred Heart Cathedral. Eric Bessette, Donald Eggleston, John Hoffman and Robert Lyons affirmed their readiness and intention to serve, then promised their obedience to the bishop and lay prostrate in front of the altar. After being ordained they were vested and each received the Book of Gospels before being greeted and congratulated by the community of deacons in attendance.
